day 6: home

sam's house was empty. the principal had sent everyone home early, so it would be about six hours before her parents returned from work.

she picked up the phone and dialed leslie's number. sam wanted to make sure she was okay since she was absent from school that day.

it rang over and over again, but no one picked up.

sam hung up and went over to the couch, turning on the tv.

"according to the board of education, all schools in the local district will remain closed until further notice..."

she was happy to hear that: it meant no homework for a while. she flipped the channel.

sam sighed and stood up. she hated daytime television. kneeling in front of the dvd rack, she looked for something to watch.
