Bill Dennings: The nation has seen a dramatic increase in violence in the past couple of days. The number of fights and homicides continues to rise. So far the violence is mostly centered in the major metropolitan areas, but there have been reports of an increase in fights and homicides in small towns as well.

Authorities say they are unsure of the cause and are looking into it. There has been speculation that the violence is gang or race related, but there has been no confirmation on these theories.
